Modules Explained

Understanding modules in Better Impact

Updated over 2 weeks ago

About this feature: Modules allow you to determine what features a user should have access to in Better Impact. This helps to create separation between users, allowing you to more effectively engage users based on which module(s) they belong to.

Profiles in Better Impact are the virtual representation of the people you connect with in real life. Modules allow you to sort your profiles based on how you need to engage with them. The module options you see in Better Impact will depend on which modules you have purchased.

Modules:

  • Volunteer

  • Client

  • Donor

  • Member

  • Administrator - all accounts have the administrator module

The module(s) that a profile belongs to will determine what features the user has access to.

For example, all of the administrators within the account will have the Administrator module applied to their profile, allowing them to access the administrator side of Better Impact.

A volunteer would have the Volunteer module applied to their profile, allowing them to access Volunteer Impact-specific features such as signing up for activities and logging hours.

It is possible for one profile/user to belong to multiple modules.

When creating content in Better Impact, such as a Custom Field or email template you will be asked to select a module for the content to be associated with. This is the software asking you what type of user this field/content is relevant to.

If you have only one module (Volunteer, Client, Donor, or Member), you will see 2 options in these situations. You can ignore the administrator module and choose the other one. For instance, in a Volunteer Impact account, you will see the Volunteer and Administrator modules. Choosing the administrator module will link a Custom Field with admin profiles, which won't be visible when viewing a volunteer profile. Instead, choose the Volunteer module to view/edit volunteer profiles and see this field.

You will see when creating limited admin roles that you can choose to limit an administrator's access to specific modules within your account. For example, you may want them to be able to access Volunteer profiles but not Client profiles. You can learn more about administrator access here.
