What is TLS 1.2?
When you go to some websites, you may notice that there is a padlock displayed beside the URL for the website. That indicates to you that the website you are connecting to is “secure” and that the information you enter in or receive from the website is encrypted during those processes. Encrypted data will be unintelligible and meaningless to anyone attempting to intercept it maliciously.
Your information has always been secure in Donor Impact. A higher level of security is being introduced, and is available in the most recent version of your internet browser in current operating systems.
TLS (Transport Layer Security) is one of the protocols to ensure the privacy, data integrity, and safe encryption of your valuable information during these processes. If you are using older operating systems, please be certain that your internet browser is up to date and using TLS version 1.2. The updated versions of TLS are available to ensure the continued security of your information.
Most new browsers will have TLS 1.2 enabled by default. Where possible, you can turn it on in older browsers.
What Do I Have to Do?
Make sure that your operating system and internet browser are up-to-date. That way, you won’t have to do anything.
We have added a check to detect if your browser is too old to comply with this new standard. If you are using an older browser, a message will display to let you know.

This revised standard will come into effect by May 2018.
